Perennial Farm Retail Sales and Yard Personnel
Horticulture/Plant knowledge
- Perennial and annual plant knowledge
- Basic care, maintenance and plant identification of perennials and annuals
- Plant care knowledge
- Use of fertilizer, herbicide, pesticides etc.
- Understand methods of pruning and transplanting
- Understand plant watering needs
Job duties to include but are not limited to:
- Customer service
- Telephone skills
- Computer invoicing skills
- Maintain retail sales area inside; to include daily cleaning and upkeep
- Maintain retail sales area outside, including watering and plant care
- Re-stocking outdoor retail sales areas
- Assisting customers with their purchase to their cars when necessary
- Unloading and stocking of deliveries when necessary
Outdoor daily needs include but are not limited to:
- Watering
- Moving plant product
- Re-stocking displays
- Weeding
- Pruning
- Transplanting/re-potting
- Pricing and updating signage
- Customer service
- Loading product into customer’s vehicles
Related needs
- 5-6 days a week 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Weekend hours are required, (especially in May and June) with a rotating weekend schedule July through October
- Hiring March 1st – May, 2008
- Must be able to stand all day
- Must be able to work in fluctuating temperature between greenhouse and outside (65 – 90 degrees)
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
- Tractor driving skills for loading bulk mulch are a plus but not a necessity
