August 14, 2007—Tuesday
477 Ten Stones Circle
Charlotte, VT 05445
5:30—7:30 p.m.
The Montgomerys’ garden is part of one of the more unusual landscapes in Vermont. Their home within a 95-acre intentional community, Ten Stones, which they created and developed in the 1990’s. Ted’s interest in “green architecture” has had a demonstrable impact on their landscape and gardens.
One of the most noticeable features of their home is the 85’ Fraxinus pensylvanica growing through the garden room ceiling, preserved because they did not want to lose one of the oldest trees on their 1/2 acre parcel. The garage roof is plant with sedum, both for aesthetics and it’s insulating properties. Come meet the Montgomerys and learn how they have used their landscape to insulate their home. Learn about their current efforts to eradicate invasives from the community and the trails and tribulations of roof gardening.
